Reflecting

Sat Aug 11, 2007, 11:10 PM
Something I worry about, as someone who puts some of my work online, is that people who see what I've done will take my idea and run with it. I know there are people better than me, and I see it on a daily basis... Deviant Art is an example of that. Ideas tend to get recycled. Just look at how many movies are based off of books and true stories there are... not to mention the amount of remakes...

I keep a good deal of my work offline; some I am hesitant to put up (paticularly photographs,) some which I just haven't gotten around to writing descriptions of, some I just don't know how to categorize.

Also, I've noticed it's hard to maintain being an artist. It takes a lot of work to improve, learn tools (like photoshop or paint shop pro,) and get everything down just right. Not to mention income.

I can't imagine how many people started out doing something aesthetic as a child - drawing, singing, acting, playing an instrument, being in a band - who then grew up, got a job, and then completely lost their creativity due to it. And those who ARE hired artists, often are told WHAT to create.

And let's not get into the fact that people are told on a daily basis, "you can't make a living doing THAT!"

---

It is my secret wish that when I dissappear from the planet, somebody will find all of my photography, poetry, writing, drawings, and paintings.
